Nutrition

  • A 12-week one-on-one nutrition coaching program provided at no cost aimed at assisting women undergoing breast cancer treatment.

Mental Health

  • 12 week MentalFit and Mindset transformational program for survivors

  • Client meets with MentalFit Coach 1x for 45 mins every other week via zoom (total of 6 calls) including initial onboarding and wrap-up call with a mindset worksheet to complete each session and be reviewed with the client the subsequent session. We will be available between sessions via email/chat for any questions they have and tips to be successful

Strength & Recovery

  • A 12 Week 1on1 Program with a Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist.

  • You will be connected to an exercise specialist who will work with you 1on1 to meet you where you are at in your journey.

At the heart of our mission is the Thrive Program, designed to empower individuals impacted by breast cancer through health, fitness, and community support. We go beyond traditional assistance by providing survivors with access to specialized wellness resources, fitness programs, and mental health support, ensuring they have the tools to rebuild strength and resilience at every stage of their journey.

The Thrive Program also supports health and wellness professionals dedicated to helping survivors thrive. Join us in fostering a community where no one faces cancer recovery alone.

We provide grants to both individuals and health & wellness professionals.

Compete for a Cure Fund FAQs

  • Compete for a Cure Fund is now accepting individual & business grant applications.

  • This is not an emergency fund – We make every effort to process all completed applications within 3-5 weeks of receipt. All applications are processed in the order they were received. Once processed, funding may take an additional 1-3 weeks to finalize.

  • Funds may only be used for health and wellness; gym memberships, nutrition coaching, mental health coach, etc.

  • Funding payments may only be made directly to the applicant. Scholarships for programs with HSN and MentalFit will be paid directly to those organizations.

  • Funding amount is based on the current funding available.

Below, you'll find details about the grant and answers to some frequently asked questions.

  • Grants range from $100 - $1,250 based on individual and business applications and as funding allows.

    This is a one-time grant and can only be awarded to people who have not received a grant through Compete for a Cure in the past.

  • The grant can only be used for health and wellness for individuals and/or businesses.

    Grants cannot be used to cover medical expenses, personal loans, or credit cards.

    We make every effort to process applications within 3-5 weeks of submission.

  • This is a one-time financial assistance program for breast cancer survivors, gym owners, and/or coaches.
    These funds are to help empower, educate, and support those affected by breast cancer.

    Applicants can apply regardless of their date of diagnosis or treatment plan.

    Gym Owners/Coaches* You will be required to explain how the grant will be utilized in helping breast cancer survivors in your community.

  • Prepare in advance a detailed description of how you will utilize this grant, your financial needs, and a full program and plan. The more details the better. You will not apply on behalf of a member or client, refer them to apply for their grant please.

  • You must complete and submit the online application. Application updates and availability will be posted to this page: https://www.competeforacure.org/support

  • Before you apply, please review the information on this page to be sure you understand the program and to understand what you are eligible for.

    The application can only be seen and completed online when we are able to accept new applications. The application cannot be downloaded, printed, or mailed.

    We recommend applying on a computer or tablet; cell phone is not recommended.

    Due to the volume of requests we receive, C4C staff are not able to help you complete the application form.

    When you apply, be prepared to provide the following types of information:

    Your name, address, email address, date of birth and other required personal information.

    Information about your breast cancer: when you were diagnosed, breast cancer type and stage (for example, stage II ER/PR-positive or hormone-receptor positive breast cancer), and any treatment plans.

    A short statement about how breast cancer has affected your/your family’s financial situation.

    Your cancer center/hospital name and your healthcare provider’s name, title/role and contact information.

    Your health and/or wellness coach info, address, and email for follow ups.

    Submit your monthly membership fees if applicable.
    Include how they are helping you during your treatment. If they need help in any way, please add that in so we can provide resources if needed.

    We receive a very high volume of applications each month and quickly exceed our maximum number. We encourage applicants to:

    Complete and submit your application as quickly as possible. It should take you approximately 15-20 minutes.

    Once you submit your application you will see a screen thanking you for completing it. There are no other steps for you to take at this time.

    Please submit only one application.

    You do not need to submit bills or any other type of documents during the application process.

  • You will receive an email from C4C notifying you of the grant approval.

    Email is our primary means of communication about applications and grants. Please be sure to check your inbox and junk/spam folders for communications from Compete for a Cure

    Checks are mailed from our office approximately 30 days from your grant application date.

    If we do not receive a response from you, this can result in the grant being deactivated. You will not be able to reapply.

  • Yes, absolutely. We have fundraising and donors happening across the globe. If funds aren’t available in your region, we will inform you once we receive your application. The application will stay on file and once funds are available in your region, we will contact you.

  • When requesting a grant for 1-on-1 training, it is our policy to prioritize safety and effective care by recommending that all sessions be conducted with a certified Cancer Exercise Specialist.
    These professionals are specifically trained to address the unique risks and considerations associated with cancer recovery and survivorship, ensuring that exercise programs are both safe and beneficial

  • While our mission is to provide meaningful support to breast cancer survivors, we focus specifically on health and wellness needs. To ensure that our resources are used most effectively, the following items and services are not coveredunder our grant program:

    Personal Bills:

    • Rent, mortgage payments, utilities, or phone bills.

    • Credit card payments or other personal debt.

    Holiday-Related Expenses:

    • Gifts, decorations, or holiday meals.

    • Funding for Christmas or other seasonal celebrations.

    Non-Wellness Purchases:

    • Clothing, except fitness-related apparel when included in a specific wellness program.

    • Non-medical transportation, vacations, or leisure activities.

    Medical Costs:

    • Hospital bills, doctor visits, medications, or surgeries.

    • Insurance premiums or deductibles.

    General Household Needs:

    • Groceries, furniture, or home repairs.

    • Cleaning supplies or childcare unrelated to wellness programs.

    Unrelated Services:

    • Entertainment subscriptions or unrelated memberships

    • Non-certified personal trainers or unapproved wellness providers.

  • Includes by not limited too: gym memberships, nutrition coaching, mental health services, and other wellness-related costs. For any questions on what is covered, contact us.

Our Compete for a Cure Fund is not an emergency fund and cannot provide immediate assistance.
